Membrane Roofing Using Viking Roofspec Systems

A quality roof membrane creates a durable waterproof barrier for roof areas that need reliable protection from water ingress. It is commonly used on flat roofs, low-slope roofs, decks, balconies and complex roof areas where traditional roofing may not be the best fit.

Certified Roofing NZ works with Viking Roofspec membrane systems, giving homeowners, builders and property owners access to proven waterproofing products for a range of roofing situations. Whether you need a waterproof membrane for your roof, repairs to an existing system or advice on a new membrane installation, our team can recommend the right approach for your project.

Membrane Roof Installation

Professional membrane roof installation is essential for long-term waterproofing. The surface needs to be prepared correctly, drainage must be considered and all joins, outlets, edges and penetrations need careful detailing.

Certified Roofing NZ can help with:

  • New membrane roof installation
  • Membrane roofing for flat and low-slope areas
  • A waterproof roof membrane for decks, balconies and extensions
  • Viking Roofspec product advice
  • Replacement of old or failing membrane systems
  • Roof membrane repair
  • Support from experienced membrane roofing contractors

Good membrane roof construction depends on more than the membrane itself. Substrate preparation, drainage, flashing details, product selection and workmanship all affect how well the roof performs over time.

Viking Enviroclad and Torch-On Membranes

Viking Enviroclad is a TPO waterproofing membrane used for low-slope roofs and other areas such as gutters, parapets, balconies and roof gardens. Viking describes it as heat-weldable, UV resistant and suitable for a wide range of climatic conditions.

Viking Torch-On Bituminous Membranes are two-layer bitumen systems designed for different New Zealand conditions. Viking’s range includes APP, SBS, APAO, Anti-Root and self-adhered no-flame options.

For homeowners and property owners, the right choice will depend on the roof pitch, drainage, exposure, design requirements and project type.

WarmRoof, WarmSpan and WarmSpan²

For projects where insulation and roof build-up matter, Viking Roofspec also offers warm roof systems.

Viking WarmRoof is a roof assembly made up of a membrane, rigid insulation board and vapour barrier installed over a substrate. Viking notes that it is compatible with its sheet membrane systems.

WarmSpan and WarmSpan² are engineered warm roof systems designed for low-slope roofing projects where structure, insulation and membrane performance need to work together. Viking describes WarmSpan² as a complete warm roof assembly that can be waterproofed with Enviroclad or Torch-On.

Roof Membrane Repair and Maintenance

If your existing roof membrane is damaged, lifting, cracked or leaking, it is best to get it checked early. Small defects can allow moisture into the roof structure and lead to more expensive repairs later.

You may need roof membrane repair if you notice:

  • Water ponding on the roof
  • Cracks, bubbles or lifting in the membrane
  • Leaks inside the property
  • Damp patches on ceilings or walls
  • Damaged joins, seams or flashings
  • Previous membrane repairs starting to fail

For some repair and maintenance situations, Viking SilCoat may be considered. Viking describes SilCoat as a liquid membrane system used to extend the life of an existing roof surface, especially where a full replacement may not be the right option.

Rubber Membranes and Roof Garden Systems

Certified Roofing NZ can also discuss Viking rubber membrane options where suitable. Viking’s rubber membrane range includes Butylclad and Epiclad, which are designed for low-slope roofs and gutters.

For green roof projects, Viking Roof Garden systems combine waterproofing, drainage and roof garden components to help keep the living space below watertight.
